Commercial Leases
John-Paul has negotiated, drafted, read, interpreted, and helped enforce hundreds of commercial leases. He's worked with retail leases, ground leases, office leases, and light industrial leases. While some firms only represent either commercial landlords or tenants, John-Paul has represented both. JOHN-PAUL'S APPROACH
When we meet or talk, you will soon learn that I’m curious, inquisitive, full of questions. Both about the matter at hand, but also about what’s important to you. Details matter. As does context. I’m a good listener too. Not just for what you say, but also what you don’t say. I don’t know it all; if I don’t know something, I will admit it, but then either find out or find the person that does know. Because I like to connect with people, I have a deep network of business professionals that I trust, and I make that network available to my clients. I consider the various angles of a situation, and I gain elevation whenever possible. I strive to learn something new from every person I talk to and every project I work on.
In 2021, after 22 years at two small/medium law firms (I co-founded the second one in 2006), I started my own law practice. Operating a solo practice allows me to choose the clients and projects that I can best serve through my experience and approach. I am also a life coach, having completed a rigorous training program through Accomplishment Coaching. When not working, I enjoy hiking, biking, rock concerts, home repair projects, and anything outdoors. My wife and two sons are the foundation of my life, inspiring me daily to be a better person. Podcasts, non-fiction books, and documentaries feed my love of learning. I am a lifelong athlete and music listener. I am fortunate to have grown up in several countries, - Venezuela, Spain, and the U.S. – in addition to having traveled extensively. Curiosity and a learner’s heart keep me growing and expanding.
